Kambo: Effects, Dosage, How To Take It & More

In the Native American Church, peyote ceremonies are often used to treat drug and alcohol addiction. And, tellingly, while alcoholism among the Navajo and other Native American tribes is often said to be more than twice the national US average, it tends to be especially low among members of the Native American Church. Whether peyote therefore represents a promising therapy for alcohol addiction is up for debate, but these findings are supported by anecdotal reports as well as studies into the therapeutic benefits of other psychedelics. Indeed, even William “Bill W” Wilson, the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, was in favor of psychedelic intervention.

What happens if you do not follow the Ayahuasca diet?

Peyote ceremonies have long been held as a way to restore the balance between the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realms. Outside of its historically sacred context, peyote holds promise for more general personal growth and development. With increasing experience, there is a growing opinion that HCT should be initiated early in the disease process. However, the actual timing of HCT is still a source of debate among experts.

Why Take Kambo?

A journey to Peru would afford the opportunity to visit the sacred sites of Machu Picchu, Moray and other ruins in the Sacred Valley, taking in the vibration of the mountains where the regal Incans once lived. Traditionally, Ayahuasca ceremonies would be held in a village where the community gathers in a maloca,in someone’s home, or in a ceremonial center of some sort—it depends on the tradition and the location. Just like to harm nature by littering is to harm the nature of the one who litters. And then I found myself laying on the floor after being served rapeh for the first time, looking up at the center of the maloca, and watching-feeling this unfillable void fill itself.

But however you choose to experience Ayahuasca, the retreat leaders should emphasize the importance of appropriate preparation and should send you back into the world with tools to help you feel ready to step back into your everyday life. Rapé is often used in collaboration with ayahuasca ceremonies, as both medicines can complement and enhance each other’s effects. Other spiritual medicines, like Kambo, Peyote, or San Pedro also work with the shamanic snuff rapé, as tobacco is said to be an ally of many plant medicines. Although T-cell CAEBV has more often been reported in children and adolescents,6 the disease has more recently been reported in adults.7 The disease in adults seems to be more aggressive and progresses more rapidly than in children. The disease may have an insidious or acute fulminant course and is difficult to treat once organ dysfunction, especially hepatic insufficiency, occurs. Some patients have high levels of EBV in T cells in the blood and disease localized to the skin in the absence of systemic symptoms, termed EBV hydroa vacciniforme, and the course may be indolent. Regardless of decriminalization, the renewed interest in plant medicines more generally has created a demand—and market—for peyote ceremonies that take place outside of the context and long history of indigenous traditions.
